What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a practice of healing the body from a variety of ailements and complaints. The Traditional Chinese Therapist often uses Acupuncture to help stimulate the healing process. During acupucture sterile single use needles are placed in strategic locations around the body to help stimulate to flow of QI or chi. Qi referrs to the flow of natural enerygy around the body and a “blockage” in an area can cause distruption and an increase in symtpoms.
The western interpretation of why acupuncture helps is the stimulation of the receptors in the body from the needles will increase the blood flow to the area, thereby increasing the supply of nutrients and oxygen to the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints or fascia, thereby flushing out toxins and helping the body to improve. There is also a stimulation of the immune responce with acupuncture, which also aids in healing. By manipulating the flow of Qi around the body the acupuncturist is able to increase of decrease the body’s processes, thereby stimulating repair or promoting relaxation and harmony to the body.
Often in treatments we are too focused on fixing one particular issue and neglect the rest of the body, which will often be contributing to the patients issues. Acupuncture is fantastic tool for treating the entire body and helping to promote relaxation and restoration. Production of the bodies natural opoids during acupuncture also are helpful with pain and stress relief.
