How can Massage Therapy help?
Massage therapy is a very popular form of treatment for many symptoms and ailments felt in today’s busy lifestyle. Massage is an effective way to help release tight muscles and also help unwind at the end of a busy or stressful week.
Massage therapy is an effective treatment for:
Our Brisbane Massage Services
There are many different types of Massage Therapy from remedial massage to relaxation massage, below are our location pages;
Remedial Massage Therapy
Remedial Massage therapy is a health fund rebatable treatment given by our qualified massage therapists. Our therapists are registered with a massage association which is registered with health funds and allows remedial massage services with our therapists to be health fund rebatable. This is a simple process where a massage can be put through the HICAPS machine for an immediate rebate where you only have to pay the gap.
Having a massage with a therapist registered with an association gives you the surety that the therapist is who they say they are, has the appropriate qualifications, has been doing their professional development and has completed the relevant police checks.
Relaxation Massage
Often we don’t take enough time to relax. We are constantly in a state of flight or flight and wonder why we start to suffer from headaches through to insomnia. Take time to relax with a hour long massage and help take you mind off your week. Our remedial massage therapists are able to help you relax through the right amount of pressure and intensity. If you are feeling up tight and wound up, let the therapists know and they will focus on more flowing strikes rather than deep pressure techniques.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a great way to get those extra tight and niggly areas up and moving again. If you muscles have been particularly tight for an extended period of time and you have already tried the more gentle relaxation massages, it may be time to increase the intensity and try to get your muscles moving again. Deep tissue massages can be uncomfortable so let the therapist know how you are going so they can decrease the pressure if you are struggling to relax.
Sports Massage
Sports massages are very effective in helping get someone prepared for a sporting event or to help recover following one. A sports massage will incorporate many different massage teachniques depending on the timing of the event and how your are managing. A massage immediately before an event may be more just making sure everything is warmed up, loose and ready to go. Post even a flush massage may be useful to help remove the metabolites from the muscles. Mid week the sosts massage may use deep tissue techniques to get into any particulary tight and restricted muscles.
The Techniques Involved in a Remedial Massage
A massage therapist is trained in many different massage styles and massage techniques. They are able to tailor these to address a wide range of conditions and ailments, maximising the recovery of the patient.
Often a massage begins with gentle, flowing strokes aimed at loosening the skin, fascia, and warming up the muscles. These techniques, such as effleurage and lymphatic massage, not only enhance circulation and reduce swelling but also serve to prepare the muscles for more intensive treatments. It’s important to recognise that in massage therapy, the adage “no pain, no gain” doesn’t always apply; significant benefits can be gained with a more relaxed, easier massage style.
As the session progresses, more intense techniques like petrissage (kneading) and tapotement (chopping) may be incorporated to further stimulate blood flow and address areas of significant muscle and fascia tightness.
For individuals seeking relief from particularly stubborn areas of tension or discomfort, deeper treatments like deep tissue massage, friction massage, and trigger point therapy may be employed. However, it’s crucial to recognise that these intense techniques aren’t also necessary and can exacerbate chronic pain in some individuals.
During a remedial massage session, therapists don’t adhere to a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, they carefully assess the needs of each patient and adjust the treatment accordingly. Someone seeking relaxation or relief from stress may benefit from a session consisting mainly of lighter, flowing strokes, while an avid gym-goer may require a more vigorous approach with a focus on deep tissue work. By combining multiple techniques in varying proportions, therapists can customise treatments to best suit the individual’s needs, preferences, and goals.
